Well since i am working like everyday i didnt do much at all. The only thing interesting this week for me was....
The Phantom of the opera ( November 15th 2008)
"The Phantom of the Opera tells the story of a disfigured musical genius known only as ‘The Phantom’ who haunts the depths of the Paris Opera House. Mesmerised by the talents and beauty of a young soprano - Christine, the Phantom lures her as his protégé and falls fiercely in love with her. Unaware of Christine’s love for Raoul, The Phantom’s obsession sets the scene for a dramatic turn of events where jealously, madness and passions collide."
The Phantom of The Opera is a french novel, combining romance, horror, mystery and tragedy, by Gastron Leroux, based on a true story. Some believe it to have been inspired by George du Maurier's Trilby. Trilby is based on real events related to the Paris Opera House which Leroux investigated, initiated by stories of an opera house ghost. The novel was translated into English in 1911. It has since been adapted many times into film and stage productions, the most notable of which were the 1925 film depiction and Andrew Lloyd Webber's 1986 musical. The Phantom of the Opera musical is now the longest running Broadway show in history, and the most lucrative entertainment enterprise of all time, its worldwide box office over the past 20 years has outgrossed even the highest grossing film in history.
Well this is the first real musical i have been to and i have to said i enjoyed every bit of it. From the opening scene which takes place in an auction in paris which showed the shattered chandelier from the incident of the phantom of the opera been restored and fitted for electric lights. Then the main play begins..not a single sec did i take my eyes of this brilliant performance. All together, the musical was 2 and a half hour long with a 20 min interval in between. But i must have enjoyed it sooo much as it felt so much shorter than that. I was thinking NZD100 is alot but its well worth the money. I highly recommend those who havent seen it to get ur tickets NOW!! Try to get the middle seats at the bottom which i think would be the best seats ^.^
