Hosea-The musical

Hosea-The musical is a musical performance organized by the Auckland Overseas Christian Fellowship (AOCF) in an attempt to raised funds for mission work to ecuador, papua new guinea (and a few more i cant remember). AOCF is student led organisation, consists of international christian students (90% msian and singaporean) which meet and gather and share a common goal, which is in worshiping god and also in reaching out to other students and spreading the words of god. These groups of students has put in 9 months of their lifes, from writing scripts and songs, to singing and acting practises in order to make this musical a success. All the efforts and hard works, for the only sole purpose no other than to glorify Our God Almighty. The musical speaks of Hosea, a prophet of God during troubled times in the land of Israel where he preaches in order to call the people of Israel to repentance who has turn against god by worshipping other foreign god such as Baal . Giving he's whole life to god, Hosea married Gomer a seemingly pure and innocent girl thinking that its god will. However, Gomer turns out to be unfaithful, seducing other guys and committing adultery. Hosea faced with betrayal, struggles in understanding why God has chosen an unfaithful woman for him to marry. However, he was still obedient to God and continued in he;s marriage to Gomer thinking that she would change. Gomer eventually left Hosea, for Lurac, a rich and handsome traveller which she thought could give her a better life. Lurac however, was a sly and cunning guy, infamous for conning women, and Gomer was sold as slave at an auction. Jireh, a close friend of Hosea told him of the news, and advices him to divorce her as she has been unfaithful. Hosea however, still showed love and forgiveness for Gomer even after her betrayal, and sets out to find her and buys her back with everything that he have.

Having only decided to go to this musical two days ago, i didnt know what to expect. The musical was held at a hall which is about 20 mins walk from my apartment. It was already almost 6 p.m when we finish getting ready and thinking that the musical was starting at 7 p.m SHARP and not knowing how far is the hall, we decided to skip a proper dinner and just ate sushi at the restaurant outside my apartment. It took us like 10 mins from stepping in the restaurant and out. ^.^ Finally arrived at the hall at 6.50 and to be honest, we were starting to regret going. The hall looks old and abandon to begin with, and inside there was no more than 15 people. After taking a sit we were starting to wonder if there's more people coming as we were told that the musical starts at 7. A min pass and a friend of ours from OCF kindly ask us to leave the hall as they are still preparing for the show. So we waited outside and chatted for awhile and to our relived, people start to pour in till the entrance was almost full. So we decided to wait near the entrance as well as we wanted to get a good seat. (Msian ^.^) The hall was mostly full with an estimation of 200-250 people. And before we knew it, the lights were turn off and without any proper introduction, a girl was singing a solo while playing the guitar which i have to say wasnt that good/impressing :( Doubts begun to feel me as we all wondered whether the musical is gonna be good. After 3 songs the third one being a duet, a proper introduction was conducted and the musical FINALLY begin ( it was 8 p.m when it finally started. msian timing as usual ^.^) After the first 2 act however, all doubts were gone and i was totally into it. The acting and singing were really good, with lots of humor in it, and brilliant performances by both the leading guy and girl and not to mention the live orchestra ( includes violin, viola, flute, calarinet, piano etc.) which was awesome. I was totally impressed as never had i expected such a high standard of performances from a bunch of students and not to mention the message that they portray tonight speaks right to my heart. The message tonight was that God unfailingly loves Israel and he's people even after their unfaithfulness and betrayal, just as how Hosea loves and forgives Gomer despite her committing adultery and that through Hosea's love and forgiveness is Gomer able to know God just as how through Jesus dead that we are cleanse of our sins and once again able to be embrace by God.

p.s: overall the musical was absolutely fantastic. 9/10 ^.^

I have another clip from Act 2: These hands which is almost complete which i planned to upload. But after uploading for more than 1 hour (32 mb out of the 38 mb file) i got dced for some reason, :( So i dont think i would be uploading that again. Sorry guys!!
