Okonomiyaki

Okonomiyaki is a popular japanese dish sort of a mix between a pan-cake and pizza and therefore is also known as Japanese pizza. 'Okonomi' means 'as you wish' or 'as you want' which refers to the ingredients. This can include beef, pork, chicken, prawn, squid or even octopus. (basically anything you like). 'yaki' on the other hand means grilled or cooked which together means cooked whatever you like :p
So the basic ingredients for okonomiyaki are:
1) Cabbage
2) One packet of okonomiyaki flour (which could be self made using normal flour+japanese soup stock. But i prefer the pre-made ones :p)
3) Eggs
4) Mayonnaise (japanese brand is preferable as they taste much better)
5) Brown okonomiyaki sauce (bull dog brand)
6) Katsuobushi (dried, shaved fish )
7) Any other ingredients you like. ( in my case i used prawns and fishballs)

Basic ingredients
1) Cut about 4 large , cabbage leaves into thin strings approx. 5mm thick.
2) Mix the water (200 ml), packet of flour (300g), 2 eggs and the cabbage strings together.
3) After mixing, add the ingredients that you like (imo prawns are the best :p) and thorougly mix it again.

4) Evenly spread it on the frying pan (make sure its not too thick or the inside might be uncooked) and cooked each sides for 8-10 mins (till its brown)

5) Serve it on a plate and add mayonnaise and okonomiyaki sauce

6) Finally add the katsuobushi. ( you can even add dry seaweed if u like)

And now you have your very own Okonomiyaki

And no japanese food would be complete withou a bowl of hot miso soup ^.^

This easy to cook dish is absolutely awesome and it only takes about 45 mins. I highly recommend you guys or gals to try this and you WILL NOT regret it. ^.^
